Great job to the 8th grade band, orchestra, and chorus for getting all superior ratings at the 2018 District XV assessment. FMS is now a nine-time VMEA Blue Ribbon School of Music!

Coming soon! We have two trips planned for Kings Dominion. 6th grade will attend on May 4th and 7th grade will attend on May 11th. Both permission slips can be found here.

All County Band has been moved to take place all day Saturday, March 3rd. Here is the updated schedule. Parents will need to provide all transportation.
Friday, March 2: The whole day is cancelled Saturday, March 3: 8:00 a.m. - students meet at Freedom MS ONLY if you need something (instruments and whatever else you might need) 8:30 a.m. - Rehearsals begin - Band is at Spotsylvania High School. We will try to begin as close to 8:30 as possible. 1:00 p.m. - Lunch 5:00 p.m. - Band concert at Spotsylvania High School |
Mr. Christopher P. HoovlerMr. Hoovler is the band director at Freedom Middle School. He has his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from James Madison University and his Master's Degree in Music from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has been teaching band in the public schools since 1997. Mr. Hoovler is a member of VMEA, VBODA, and Phi Beta Mu. Mr. Hoovler has earned Virginia Honor Band status as a former high school director, eleven VMEA Blue Ribbon awards, and has earned numerous superior ratings in his career. Archives
