District Auditions on January 13th

Auditions for district band are on January 13th, 2018. All 7th and 8th grade band students are strongly encouraged to audition. The $5 audition fee will be paid by the band's fundraising account, so your child will NOT pay a fee to audition. Your child should practice the audition material as much as possible (all major scales, the audition etude, chromatic scale). The "All-District Band" and "All-County Band" auditions have merged into one audition. If your child makes district band or scores an average of 60 points or more, they make All County Band, too! Mr. Christopher P. Hoovler

Mr. Hoovler is the band director at Freedom Middle School. He has his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from James Madison University and his Master's Degree in Music from Virginia Commonwealth University. He has been teaching band in the public schools since 1997. Mr. Hoovler is a member of VMEA, VBODA, and Phi Beta Mu. Mr. Hoovler has earned Virginia Honor Band status as a former high school director, ten VMEA Blue Ribbon awards, and has earned numerous superior ratings in his career.
